Animal Rescue Cambodia has the right idea when it comes to animal welfare – the only thing that will make a difference to the overpopulation problem is consistent neutering schemes based in-country. Tina Mayr, the founder, achieves this seamlessly by building working relationships with the Buddhist pagodas and surrounding local people in order to allow them to understand the benefits of neutering. She also works tirelessly to rehabilitate sick and injured animals and carefully select appropriate homes for them to be adopted into, or returns them to their previous living situation (depending on circumstance). One of the few NGOs who really understand the situation in Cambodia and are actually making a significant difference!

What People Say
While visiting Phnom Penh my husband and I helped at the centre for a few days. The level of care and empathy shown to all the animals in their care is outstanding and Tina is an amazing person with a huge heart making a massive difference to the local animals lives. I had the opportunity to visit the pagoda with Tina to check on the cats and dogs and Animal Rescue is highly respected by the local people and monks for all they do. The animals at the centre have a great environment to play in and walk around while having enrichment for stimulation along with a healthy diet. Once again thanks from us and the animals of Cambodia. Keep up the great work!

Over the years I’ve seen a lot of animal welfare and rescue organisations, and I’m pleased to support this one. Unlike rescuers who lose their focus and become quickly overwhelmed, Tina works effectively. She’s organised spay/neuter and vaccination campaigns in her neighbourhood and at a couple of Phnom Penh wats, where she’s engaged the support of the monks. She is deeply caring but also sensible. If you want to do something to alleviate the animal suffering in this city, supporting Animal Rescue Cambodia is a solid decision.

A compassionate and caring animal rescue organisation. Welfare is high on the priority list and the staff make such a difference in the work that they do. I was a vet nurse travelling through Cambodia and needed help with an animal. Tina was so informative and helpful. I can’t recommend them enough and wish there were more similar people in the world. 5*. Wishing you the very best.
